Philippines's Ministry of agriculture has revealed that 43 importers of garlic have been blacklisted because the importers have maliciously raised garlic prices.
Philippines's agriculture minister, Penuell, said this year the importers were allowed to import 70100 tons of garlic, but they sent only 19250 tons, a shortage that caused garlic prices to surge. Traders said earlier that they delayed the importation of garlic because garlic is still very expensive in the international market, especially in china.
